Hello beauties! Are any of you at home today, or are you all out in the shopping madness of Black Friday? I’m the type that you simply could not pay me to go deal with that insanity. I like to shop, but not at that level! I’ve actually done the vast majority of my holiday shopping online since 1998. No standing in line for advertised items that the store only has 5 of, no crowds of rookie shoppers, etc, etc.
For me, there are basically two kinds of shopping. First of all, there is utilitarian shopping. That shopping falls in the ‘must’ category. It ranges from absolute necessity shopping…like food shopping, which I hate…to buying for Christmas, birthdays, and so on, which fall on the more pleasurable end of the must category spectrum.
Then there is indulgence shopping. If I am brick and mortar shopping, that means I want to go by myself, at my own pace. I don’t want to deal with crowds elbowing each other over 25% off ugly sweaters. I want to take time to absorb the smells of the beauty counters, the texture of the fabrics, the sheen of boots in a store window…that type of thing. It’s an experience that is a delight to the senses. Not to mention the adrenaline thrill of the actual buy, of course. 
So I’m staying home doing some online shopping today. It has it’s own allure. I can shop from places that are not local to me, I can see where the best deals are with a few clicks of a mouse, and I can shop in my pj’s and relax after cooking yesterday.
One of the things I am thankful for this year are all my new online friends, as well as the ones I’ve had for a decade. You all, quite simply, rock.
